Monday Merch raises half a million in growth funding

ROTTERDAM - Monday Merch raises half a million in growth funding from Rabobank shortly after its founding. The Rotterdam start-up helps companies with all aspects of organizing sustainable and high-quality swag for employees, a time-consuming process that requires a lot of specific knowledge. Monday Merch addresses that need by organizing the entire process, from design and production to storage and distribution, in one central location. The investment will be used to expand the team, gain greater international exposure and roll out a swag platform.

The founders of WoodWatch, who previously made it to Forbes 30 under 30 and won a spot in the Financial Times Top 1000 of Europe's fastest-growing companies, have experienced firsthand how difficult it is to get high quality swag into the hands of employees. That's why last year they launched Monday Merch: one place to organize all your swag for your company. The founders are determined: Monday Merch is going to grow hard and fast because of its unique proposition.

No more spending endless hours organizing swag

It is a recognizable situation for companies looking for swag: spending endless hours comparing products and suppliers. Not to mention the tangle of printing methods, delivery files, and customs forms when shipping internationally. ''We have experienced firsthand how difficult it is to organize swag. Spending countless hours finding great products, ordering everything from different places and then going to pack and take it to the post office ourselves. We thought: this can and should be better. Out of this need Monday Merch was born. Sustainable, high-quality swag, that comes from 1 place in beautiful packages to your office or employees,'' says Kevin van der Veer.

With Monday Merch, companies only have to worry about choosing products; the rest is done by Monday Merch. For example, the company also offers storage in their warehouse and ships packages to (international) customers and employees when needed.

Growth Financing Rabobank

''From Day 1, we consistently received more requests than we could handle. This allowed us to scale the team to 50 team members in a short time,'' said Florian Frenken. ''Our first major customer was Polaroid. At that moment we knew we had something unique in our hands with Monday Merch. This was quickly followed by companies such as Uber, Sixt, and Hyundai.''

At the end of March 2023, the company raises €0.5 million in growth financing from Rabobank. "Thanks to Rabobank's growth financing, we can grow faster and more effectively. With the financing, we are focusing on three key areas: team, technology, and marketing. In the area of team, we have grown to 50 people in a short time; with the financing, we can continue this expansion. In terms of technology, we will invest in launching a new platform, operations, further improving the design process and the website. In terms of marketing, we will invest in greater international exposure," said Jeroen Westerbeek.

Save time with the swag platform

The new platform gives customers live insight into the entire swag journey from A to Z. This gives companies more control over the swag process and saves time through automation. The platform is one centralized place where designers can collaborate, orders and inventory are visible, and international shipments are organized.

"The technology we are introducing to the swag market is unique and value-added for small, but especially large, companies that want to spend less time on swag and significantly improve the experience," said Daniel Salimian. By focusing on technology, the company is able to offer a full-service solution from design, product(s), warehousing, and worldwide shipping. The platform integrates with HRIS systems such as Workday to send automated onboarding packages. This sets Monday Merch apart from the rest of the swag market.
