How Much to Spend on Employee Christmas Gifts

Most people asking this question want a number, and the honest answer is that the number depends on one decision you have probably not made yet: whether you are gifting everyone the same thing, or gifting different groups differently.

Spend the same on all 200 people and a €20 budget costs €4,000 and buys a decent single item. Split it, give 180 people a €7 gift and 20 people a €50 one, and you spend €2,260 for a better outcome at both ends. Neither approach is wrong. But picking one before you look at products is what stops the budget drifting.

There is a second thing that decides the number, and it catches people out. Prices at Monday Merch move sharply with quantity. The Christmas Card is €5.71 a piece if you buy the 10-piece minimum and €0.42 at 250. Truffles run €21.88 at 50 and €3.40 at a thousand. So "how much does it cost" has no answer until you know how many people you are buying for.

Everything below is priced per piece at that product’s own minimum order quantity, with the smallest total you could spend on it. That is the honest worst case. Order more and the per-head figure falls, often by half or better.

The products come from our Christmas 2026 collection, organized into six bands, with 43 products and the production time each one needs.

Three costs people forget

Before the bands, the three things that reliably push a Christmas budget over.

  1. Minimum order quantities, which decide whether you can buy something at all. Several of the cheapest items per piece carry minimums of 500 or 1,000, so a €1.08 sweet means a €1,080 order. Check the minimum before you fall in love with a unit price.

  2. Packaging is a separate line. A €7 gift arriving in a plain carton is a €7 gift that looks like a delivery. A card and some colored filling is the difference between a product and a present, and it comes out of the same budget. The Christmas Card is €5.71 at its 10-piece minimum and €0.42 at 250, so at scale this costs you very little and at small quantities it is a real line item.

  3. Shipping to individual home addresses costs real money, and it scales with weight. A blanket costs considerably more to buy and to ship than a chocolate bar, and the gap widens sharply when you are delivering to two hundred separate doors rather than one office.

Our recommendation: take your per-head figure, set aside roughly 15% of it for packaging, and price the shipping separately once you know whether you are sending to one office or two hundred doors. That split is our own guidance from running these programs rather than an industry standard, so adjust it to what your packaging actually costs.

If you want a single number, we would suggest €10 to €15 a head including packaging for an all-staff gift. That is our recommendation based on what works rather than a published benchmark. At 200 people it comes to roughly €2,000 to €3,000, and at that quantity most of the €10 to €20 band drops into the €5 to €7 range, so the money goes further than the tables below suggest.

Once you have a figure, our Christmas 2026 page is the quickest way to see what sits inside it this season. The bands below go product by product if you want the detail.

Under €5 a head: the flat-priced food

A short band, and not for the reason you would expect. Almost nothing at Monday Merch costs under €5 at a small order quantity, because most prices fall steeply with volume and start high. The exceptions are these, where the price is the same whether you buy 15 or 500. If you are ordering for a small team, this is the only band that behaves the way you assume pricing works.

Fiesta Nut Mix — €1.79 at 25, from €44.75

Gourmet fiesta nut mix for corporate gifts and snack packs

The cheapest per-head item anyone can actually buy, at €1.79 whether you order 25 or 500. It is also the savory option, which matters more than it sounds: any gift box that is entirely sweet misses the share of your team who do not want chocolate, and balancing it here costs almost nothing.

View Fiesta Nut Mix on Monday Merch

Small Bar Tony's Chocolonely — €2.16 at 15, from €32.40

Small Bar Tony's Chocolonely

The lowest minimum spend in the entire Christmas range at €32.40, and four business days of production, the fastest there is. A brand with a genuine ethical position rather than a marketing one. The catch from the product page: this bar is not customizable, so your branding has to live on the card or box around it.

View Small Bar Tony's Chocolonely on Monday Merch

Toblerone Chocolate — €3.27 at 15, from €49.05

Toblerone Chocolate

Flat at €3.27 across every tier. Brand recognition is what separates this from generic confectionery at a similar price, because recipients price it against what they would pay in a shop rather than against what it cost you.

View Toblerone Chocolate on Monday Merch

Barebells Bar — €3.40 at 15, from €51.00

Barebells Bar

The food item for wellness programs, sports kits and active-lifestyle audiences where chocolate would read as off-brief. Several flavors are available, so a box can be varied without adding production time or cost.

View Barebells Bar on Monday Merch

Clipper Tea — €3.62 at 25, from €90.50

Organic Clipper Tea for corporate wellness gifts and office gifting

Tea travels better than chocolate, survives a warm warehouse, and suits the significant share of any workforce who drink neither alcohol nor fizzy drinks and do not want sweets. Flat pricing at €3.62, minimum 25.

View Clipper Tea on Monday Merch

Ponte Villoni Prosecco — €4.59 at 25, from €114.75

Ponte Villoni Prosecco

Under five euro for sparkling wine is the best perceived-value-per-euro figure in this article. Two constraints: the bottle itself cannot be branded, so your logo goes on a box or card, and the page states it ships within the EU only, which rules it out for UK and US recipients.

€5 to €10 a head: the standard company gift

Where most all-staff gifts land once you are buying at a realistic quantity. Everything here has a minimum of 10 or 15 pieces, so a team of any size can buy it, and the total outlay at minimum stays under €125. Note that several of these fall steeply if you order 250 or more, which is where a large company gets a much better number than the sticker price suggests.

Christmas Card — €5.71 at 10, from €57.10

Christmas Card

The lowest minimum quantity in the range at just 10 pieces, and the steepest volume curve of anything here: €5.71 at 10, down to €0.42 at 250. A pack with no message reads as logistics; the same pack with a printed card and a handwritten name reads as a gesture from a person. Available A5 or A6, single or double-sided.

Large Bar Tony's Chocolonely — €5.78 at 15, from €86.70

Large Bar Tony’s Chocolonely

Flat at €5.78, four business days, and a format that stands on its own rather than needing a pack built around it. A small bar in a box reads as a component; a large bar handed over by itself still reads as a gift. Not customizable, like its smaller sibling.

Celebrations Mix Box — €6.92 at 15, from €103.80

Celebrations Mix Box

A mix removes a decision you cannot make well on someone else’s behalf, and it works particularly well as a shared item in a kitchen or on a reception desk. The page is explicit that logo printing and branded sleeves are not available, so plan the branding around it rather than on it.

View Celebrations Mix Box on Monday Merch

Tissue Paper Sticker — €6.98 at 15, from €104.70

Tissue Paper Sticker

A branded seal for tissue paper or a plain box, and the clearest example in this article of why volume matters: €6.98 at 15 pieces, €1.08 at 100 or more. At small quantities it is an expensive sticker. At 200 people it is the cheapest branding you will buy all year.

View Tissue Paper Sticker on Monday Merch

Christmas Tree Hanger — €7.48 at 15, from €112.20

Christmas Tree Hanger

The quiet advantage of an ornament is that it comes back out every December. Something that gets unwrapped again in five years is doing more brand work than most items costing several times as much. Falls to €2.25 at 250.

View Christmas Tree Hanger on Monday Merch

Full Colour Wrap Tony's Chocolonely · Small — €8.06 at 15, from €120.90

Small Bar Tony’s Chocolonely

The branded version of the small bar. At 15 pieces it costs €8.06 against €2.16 for the plain bar, which is a steep premium for a wrapper. At 250 the gap narrows to €3.69 against €2.16. If you are ordering at volume and want the logo on the chocolate rather than beside it, this is the one.

Mini Mikado Game — €8.24 at 15, from €123.60

Mini Mikado Game

Santa Hand Warmer — €8.24 at 15, from €123.60

Santa Hand Warmer

Seasonal and genuinely useful in a December climate. Best suited to teams who commute, work outdoors or attend winter events rather than a warm office. €2.88 at 250.

€10 to €20 a head: something they keep

The band where a gift stops being a gesture and becomes an object that stays on a desk or in a kitchen. For a small team this is a realistic company-wide choice at around €150 to €240 total. For a larger company, most of these fall into the €5 to €7 range at 250 pieces, which makes this band considerably better value at scale than it looks here.

Christmas Festive Mug — €11.02 at 15, from €165.30

Christmas Festive Mug

Seasonal mugs occupy an odd place: used for six weeks, stored for forty-six. That is not a criticism if the design earns it, and at €5.29 in volume it is an inexpensive way to put something on every desk.

Tic Tac Toe Christmas Game — €11.33 at 15, from €169.95

Tic Tac Toe Christmas Game

Baltimore Softcover Notebook — €11.52 at 15, from €172.80

Baltimore Softcover Notebook

The practical choice in a band full of seasonal items. A notebook gets used in January rather than unwrapped in December, which makes it right when you would rather be useful than festive.

View Baltimore Softcover Notebook on Monday Merch

Acacia Serving Board — €11.55 at 15, from €173.25

Acacia Serving Board

The most durable item in this band by a distance. A serving board is kitchen equipment, so it survives long past the season and gets used in front of other people, which is where branded objects actually earn their keep.

Ceramic Compact Mug — €14.38 at 15, from €215.70

Ceramic Compact Mug

Jenga Game

A branded game does something most swag cannot: it creates a reason for people to gather around it. Customization runs through pad print, digital print, engraving and a custom sleeve. The wrong choice for a fully remote team, where a group game is a reminder of what they do not have.

Rib Beanie — €22.57 at 15, from €338.55

Double Knitted Rib Beanie

A beanie given in July is swag; the same beanie given in December is worn until March. Very few products have their seasonal peak aligned this precisely with gifting season. The ribbing means one size fits most, which removes the size-collection exercise that makes apparel slow.

Rituals Small Gift Set — €28.62 at 15, from €429.30

Rituals Small Gift Set

A recognized retail brand, which changes the math because the recipient prices it against what they would pay themselves. The page states it is not customizable, so your branding goes on the packaging. Right for a thank-you, wrong for a visibility exercise.

Rituals Medium Gift Set — €44.10 at 15, from €661.50

Rituals Medium Gift Set

6 business days for something this substantial is the unusual part. Most gifts that feel this premium sit at twenty days or more, which puts them out of reach the moment a deadline tightens. The strongest late-decision option in the range when budget is available.

View Rituals Medium Gift Set on Monday Merch

Soft Blanket — €57.12 at 15, from €856.80

Custom Soft Blanket

Blankets have the highest retention rate of anything in corporate gifting, for the unglamorous reason that everyone has room for another one and nobody throws away a good one. The word doing the work is "soft": a scratchy blanket is worse than none, because the recipient forms a permanent opinion on first contact. Weight makes it expensive to ship individually, so price the landed cost rather than the unit cost.

AS Colour Heavyweight Sweatshirt — €62.81 at 15, from €942.15

AS Colour Heavyweight Sweatshirt

Weight is the whole difference. Heavyweight fabric hangs differently, survives more washes, and is distinguishable by touch from a standard sweatshirt. AS Colour is a recognized name among people who care about blanks, which adds credibility with design-literate teams. Sizing is less forgiving than on a relaxed fit.

Premium Bomber — €99.16 at 15, from €1,487.40

Premium Bomber

Outerwear is the point at which branded clothing becomes something people wear outside the building by choice. A bomber reads as a jacket rather than as workwear, and kept small and tonal, the branding becomes a garment someone wears to things that have nothing to do with your company. Barely any volume discount, so the price is the price.

Samsonite Suitcase — €281.60 at 15, from €4,224.00

Samsonite Suitcase

The most expensive item in the Christmas range and the one that passes the would-they-buy-it test most comfortably. Luggage works for senior recipients because it is costly enough that people delay replacing it and visible enough that a good one gets noticed. At 50 pieces it falls to €214.49, but the minimum outlay of €4,224 makes this a decision for a leadership group, not a department.

Cheap per head, expensive to buy: the high-minimum products

These deserve their own section because their unit price is misleading. Everything here looks inexpensive, and several are among the cheapest items in the catalog per piece, but the minimum order quantity puts the smallest possible order into four figures. Candy — €1.08 at 1000, from €1,080.00

Salty Pretzels — €1.72 at 1000, from €1,720.00

Salty Pretzels

Cookies — €1.81 at 600, from €1,086.00

Cookies

Familiar and universally acceptable, with the steepest volume curve in this section: €1.81 at 600 pieces down to €0.98 at 2,500. A strong filler for a large program and nothing at all for a small one.

Prosecco 20cl — €5.78 at 120, from €693.60

Prosecco 20cl

The single-serve format solves what full bottles do not: it ships more easily and fits in a gift box. The 120-piece minimum is far more approachable than the rest of this band, so this is the one high-minimum item a mid-sized company can realistically use.

View Prosecco 20cl on Monday Merch

Bespoke Keychain Plushie — €5.67 at 500, from €2,835.00

Bespoke Keychain Plushie

Fully bespoke, which explains the two extremes: 39 business days of production, the longest in the entire Christmas range, and a 500-piece minimum. If you want your own character or mascot made into an object, this is the item, and the decision belongs in the summer rather than the autumn.

Bespoke Christmas Socks — €13.59 at 50, from €679.50

Bespoke Christmas Socks

Bespoke means the design is worked into the sock rather than printed onto a blank, which is a considerably better product than a printed alternative. The price halves to €6.55 at 1,000. Two things to plan around: a 50-piece minimum, and 21 business days of production, the longest in this band apart from the fully bespoke items.

Truffles — €21.88 at 50, from €1,094.00

Luxury truffles for corporate gifting and client appreciation

The most dramatic volume curve in this article: €21.88 at 50 pieces, €3.40 at 1,000, an 84% drop. At small quantities it is a premium gift; at scale it is a filler. Decide which you are buying before you price it.

Christmas Chocolate Advent — €31.34 at 50, from €1,567.00

Christmas Chocolate Advent

A twenty-four day object rather than a single moment, with full-color custom print across the calendar itself. Two things to plan around: a €1,567 minimum outlay, and a deadline of December 1 rather than the 25th, which is roughly three weeks earlier than most people assume.

Dopper Insulated · 580 ml — €32.94 at 36, from €1,185.84

Dopper Insulated 580 ml

A recognized sustainability brand rather than a generic bottle with an eco claim attached, and insulated construction is what makes it a daily-use object rather than a desk ornament. The 36-piece minimum is unusual, and the volume discount is slight, so the price holds at scale.

Bespoke Knitted Christmas Sweater — €59.40 at 25, from €1,485.00

Bespoke Knitted Christmas Sweater

Knitted rather than printed is the distinction that justifies the price. A printed sweatshirt with a festive graphic is a sweatshirt; a knitted sweater has the pattern built into the garment, which is what makes it read as a real Christmas jumper rather than a corporate approximation. At 24 business days it is the longest lead time outside the bespoke plushie, and you still have a sizing exercise across the whole group.

Getting the budget approved

Two arguments work better than asking for a number in isolation.

The first is per-head framing. €4,000 sounds like a lot; €20 per person for a team of 200 sounds like what it is. Finance approves the second more readily than the first, and it is the same request.

The second is timing, which quietly costs more than the gift. Leave the decision late and the affordable options disappear before the expensive ones do, because the cheap items in this article are mostly food with long production runs. Our Christmas deadlines set out what is still possible month by month, and Christmas orders qualify for free warehousing, so ordering in September costs nothing extra in storage and protects the budget from a rushed decision in November.

For apparel, a Team Store also removes the sizing exercise that makes clothing budgets unpredictable, because people choose their own rather than you over-ordering to cover every size.

FAQs

How much should a company spend on employee Christmas gifts?

We would suggest €10 to €15 a head including packaging for an all-staff gift. That is our own recommendation rather than a published market figure. Below €5 you are buying a component rather than a gift, and above €35 you are usually better off gifting selectively than gifting everyone.

Is it better to give everyone the same gift?

Not necessarily. Splitting the budget, with a smaller gift for everyone and a larger one for long service or leadership, usually costs less in total and lands better at both ends. The thing to avoid is deciding that halfway through, once you have already priced products.

What is the cheapest branded Christmas gift?

The Christmas Card at €0.42 and the Tissue Paper Sticker at €0.43 are the least expensive items in the collection. For something that works as a gift on its own rather than as packaging, the Small Bar Tony’s Chocolonely starts at €2.16, although that bar itself is not customizable.

Do prices drop if we order more?

Yes, and often substantially. The Bespoke Christmas Socks fall from €13.59 at 50 pieces to €6.55 at 1,000. Every product page shows its own volume tiers, so budget from the quantity you will actually order.

Why can I not buy just 20 of something cheap?

Minimum order quantities. Several of the lowest per-piece items are produced in bulk runs and carry minimums to match: Candy and Salty Pretzels at 1,000, Cookies at 600, Fudge and the Bespoke Keychain Plushie at 500. For a team under 100, the realistic range is the products with 10 to 25 piece minimums, which covers most of the first four bands.

Should packaging come out of the gift budget?

Yes, and plan for roughly 15% of the per-head figure. A card and colored filling is what turns a product into a present, and leaving it out is the most common reason a Christmas gift underwhelms despite costing what it should.

How late can we leave the decision?

Later than you think for in-stock items, earlier than you think for everything else. Several of the cheapest items here carry 20 to 23 business days of production, so the budget options disappear before the premium ones do.
